(Metro / Viper / Virus / Prototype)

Matrix (Metro / Viper / Virus / Prototype)
http://www.myspace.com/matrixandfuturebound

Matrix a.k.a Jamie Quinn forged an early path into the drum and bass scene with innovative releases on DJ SS’s New Identity Recordings before launching his own Metro imprint in 1997. His seminal debut long player, ‘Sleepwalk’ on Virus showed that there was more to this producer than simply the 12″ format and his remixes of tracks like ‘Medicine’ (Ed Rush & Optical), ‘Phone Call’ (Klute) and Kirsty Hawkshaw’s ‘Leafy Lane’ have become timeless classics. In recent years he’s also climbed to the top of the pop charts as part of the Goldtrix production team with ‘Trippin (It’s Love)’ going on to add the likes of Tony Braxton, Annie Lennox and Robbie Williams to his growing remix credit list.

Along side a hectic worldwide DJ schedule, 2005 saw Matrix team up with Liverpool based producer Futurebound resulting in the massive ‘American Beauty Remix’. Played relentlessly by everyone from Andy C to Pete Tong, the track has reached true anthem status and has set the tone for the duo’s forthcoming album which was unleashed in March 2007. Combining straight up dance floor devastation with big hooks and soulful futurism, cuts from the album are already on heavy rotation with those DJs lucky enough to have snagged a copy. The first single from the album, ‘Universal Truth’/'Skycraper’ is set to drop in November and proves why Matrix is one of a small handful of djs and producers to have maintained a position in the premiere league of Drum and Bass for over ten years, and as if further evidence were needed that he is one of the hardest working producers in Drum and Bass, Matrix is also featured on several tracks on Ed Rush & Optical’s album, ‘Chameleon’.

ShockOne (Viper Recordings)
http://www.myspace.com/shockonemusic

Hailing from Perth the epicenter of the Australasian drum and bass scene, ShockOne aka Karl Thomas is fast becoming one of D&B’s major talents. From his origins in a band with Rob & Gareth from Pendulum, through to his recent assault on drum and bass dance floors worldwide, his musical energy and expression is powerful to say the least.

Karl quickly found his own voice in the drum and bass sound, which culminated in his first two singles being picked up instantly by DJ Friction for his Shogun Audio imprint, in the shape of “Silverscreen”, and the party smasher “It’s .. putting out a devastating 12″ for Andy C’s Frequency label, in the shape of “The riddler” and “We be droppin this”, which saw his sound gain airplay on BBC Radio 1.

2008 saw ShockOne continue working with the mighty Viper Recordngs, and put out the electro tinged ‘The Calling’ smashing dancefloors all over the world, and the cheeky led zeppelin sampling ‘Way you move’ which held stead in crates months after release. 2008 also saw Shockone take out ‘best tune of the year’ at the Perth Dance Music Awards for the second year running, this time with Phetsta for the tune ‘The sun’, as well as ‘best drum and bass dj’ and ‘best broken beat producer’.

With two European tours now under his belt Shockone is not slowing down in ‘09. Only 3 months in we see the release of a self titled EP of gargantuan proportions. ‘The Shockone EP’ really sees the producer take his growing sound to the next level. Having already gained regular airplay on BBC Radio 1, and being play listed on the BBC Asia network this eclectic release of drum and bass and dubstep simply rocks all corners of the dancefloor.

2010 is set to be a colossal year for ShockOne with a full-length album in the works.

Futurebound (Viper Recordings)
http://www.myspace.com/matrixandfuturebound

From the very outset of dance culture, and right up to the present day, Brendan Collins, AKA DJ / Producer Futurebound, has steadily developed an almost unsurpassable reputation for tearing up dancefloors on a worldwide scale.

Whether hes destroying venues such as Fabric (London), Womb (Tokyo), or in the studio, you know what youre getting with the sounds of Futurebound.

Born and bred in Liverpool, the cultural and musical epicentre of the North of England, Futurebounds route to the top of his profession reads like a concise history of dance music. After the first illegal raves he attended in 1989, Futurebound went onto pursue his passion for dance music, with DJs such as Fabio, Grooverider, Mickey Finn & Top Buzz serving as early influences.

From this, Futurebound secured a home town residency in 1991, warming up for the likes of Carl Cox, Grooverider and Sasha, his first real break into DJing. Steadily the emerging influence of breakbeats grew on Futurebound, leading him to book names such as LTJ Bukem, Goldie, Ray Keith and 4 Hero for his own parties in the early nineties, and later lead him to start the notorious X events in 1999, some of which still rank as some of most important parties in Liverpools clubbing history.

His skills didnt just stop with DJing and promotion either. Since 1993 Futurebound has been stamping his distinctive, rolling, peak time sounds on vinyl, initially with local producers. Inevitably however, more high – profile production and remix collaborations followed with the likes of J Majik. Matrix, Digital & Adam-f. With his productions being released on imprints such as Infrared, Timeless, Moving Shadow, Metro and Frequency, and receiving heavy support over the years from the scenes hierarchy, the time seemed right for Futurebound to expand his repertoire once again, by infusing his reputation on an entire imprint.

L.A.O.S. (Hospital / Spearhead / Defunked)
(AUCKLAND & CHRISTCHURCH SHOWS ONLY!)
http://www.myspace.com/largeamountofsoul

L.A.O.S. is a collaboration of three oldschool beatheadz Abraham , D-bex and JayEm. They have known each other for several years but not until 2002 they understood the obvious fact that they should join forces in music production. They share the same passion for music and their taste of music is expectionally identical.

L.A.O.S. sound is mainly melodic, dancefloor oriented drum and bass but their wide aspect in music wont hold them in one genre. As one wise man said: “There are only two types of music: good and bad”.

L.A.O.S. has a bunch of releases on labels like Hospital (UK), Raw Canvas (4hero remix) (UK), Spearhead (UK) and Spin Recordings (DK). Their tracks are getting dj support from names like Gilles Peterson, London Elektricity, Zinc, Blu Mar Ten, Blame, Annie Mac (BBC Radio1), Kasra and Utah Jazz just to name a few. Their release “Panda Style” has gained worldwide recognition and future will tell will these boys be known for inventing “endangered species step” music genre. In 2007 they were asked to do a remix for 4hero of their track called “Morning Child“.

In 2009 their own label imprint “Large Amount Of Soul” released an EP called “So Much To Tell you” with four highly rated dancefloor smashers: “Back no more”, “So much to tell you”, “Rise” and “I want you”. In april 2009 Spin recordings released a single with tracks “GTGD feat. Kaleb” and “Something in the air“. It went directly to Beatport top10 and stayed there for a good while. L.A.O.S. is planning of releasing album at the end of 2009 so they will be busy in the studio as well as djing around the globe.

L.A.O.S. Live consists of bands own boys, guest artists and vocalists. The line-up for the live is build for every gig individually and it can range from three member turntable-effects-laptop mayhem up to six member band with live drummer, bass player and vocalists.

L.A.O.S. perform dj-sets individually or together, depending of the venue. They are all experienced djs with more than 20 years of djing experience altogether. They have played in almost every mentionable event in Finland and also abroad in UK, Germany, New Zealand, Slovenia, US, Estonia and Russia.

Phetsta (Technique Recordings)
http://www.myspace.com/phetstamusic

Phetsta burst onto the Drum & Bass scene in 2005 when he signed exclusively to the legendary Simon Bassline Smith’s imprint Technique Recordings. The Australian producer quickly carved his own sound within the genre with early releases such as Intergalactic and Blur (Mixmag’s tune of the month – May 2006).

In 2007 Phetsta released the acclaimed Congo EP, Knowledge Magazine calling it a “production masterpiece”. The four track extended player cracked the top ten on BBC Radio 1’s Drum & Bass charts. Phetsta show cased his versatility by slowing things down to 130 bpm for a guest single on Aquasky’s label Passenger Recordings.

In 2008 he released From My Eyes, which received significant Radio 1 support from Annie Mac. and held onto a top ten position on Drum ‘n’ Bass Arena for eight weeks straight. Phetsta also teamed up with fellow Perth based producer Shock One to unleash the award winning (PDMA Track of the Year 2008) single The Sun. The duo also collaborated with London based Metrik on the dance floor tear out True Believer which featured on Shock One’s self titled extended player on Viper Recordings.

2009 proved successful again with Phetsta & Shock One’s Cyclones gaining day time rotation on Australia’s Triple J, including a top three placing on Super Request.

Phetsta’s DJ skills have seen him tour both nationally and overseas, including two eight week long sell out tours of Europe and one in The United States. His music has found its way into the record boxes of the likes of Pendulum, Grooverider, Andy C and Annie Mac.

Trolley Snatcha (Dub Police)
http://www.myspace.com/trolleysnatcha

Since 2009, 22 year old Zack Kemp aka Trolley Snatcha has been carving his way through the ranks of dubstep one stolen shopping trolley at a time. Having taken inspiration from Massive Attack, The Prodigy, Slipknot, Sepeltura, and even the occasional crackheads asking for money on the street – he has come to manufacture heavyweight new school filth so utterly face melting that it has destroyed venues world-wide and sought repeat rewinds from the likes of Skream, Benga, Jakes, Rusko, Dr P, Joker, Chase & Status, 12th Planet and more!

Even before collaborating with Caspa on the infamous “STLO” DP Remix, Trolley Snatcha had taken the world by storm with his chart topping tunes “The Future” and “Scattah” both of which saw releases on London’s heavyweight label Dub Police. With tunes such as “I Don’t Care” and “March of the Mallards” getting serious airtime, and a raft of releases on the way – missing this cutting edge bass machine’s debut performances would be nothing short of an act of retardation!

Fresh faced from touring the far reaches of Israel, Belguim, France, Norway, Holland, and ramming venues like Fabric, Ministry of Sound and the Custard Factory – Trolley Snatcha is now headed to Australia and New Zealand for Easter and unless you’re happy to sit back and watch people’s faces get disfigured by his tunes on YouTube.. you’d better hurry up and secure your place at his next show!
